Leadership Update

To the SCC family:

As announced last Sunday, the Leadership Team met on Tuesday and would like to update the SCC family with the following items.

1.  As noted in Graeme's letter of resignation, his work as Senior Pastor will complete here on June 30th.  A farewell event is being planned and you will be hearing more about this shortly.
2.  In looking beyond 30th June, our Operating Guidelines provide for the Leadership Team to make decisions to delegate responsibilities during a time when there is a pastoral vacancy.  The Operating Guidelines also make provision for an Interim Pastor.  An Interim Pastor would typically be a retired/semi retired pastor prepared to provide support to the church with preaching, pastoral care, and administration/communication during a transition between full time pastors.  This assignment could be part time or more hours.  At this time, the Leadership Team is exploring finding a suitable Interim Pastor.
3.  The appointment of a Pastoral Search Committee is the first step in the search for a lead/senior pastor.  The Leadership Team invites your suggestions for persons to appoint to the Pastoral Search Committee.
4.  Monday, May 12th @ 7pm a Congregational Meeting is scheduled.  Along with other items, this will be a time to provide input and reflection and set priorities on the direction being taken with the pastoral search.  There will also be update on the Interim Pastor status.

Most importantly, our Operating Guidelines specify: "When the need arises to call a Pastor, the church will set aside time for prayer and meditation and will seek the will of God."  (Article V, Sec 2.1)  Let's not neglect this foundation obedience in our search and calling of a pastor.

On behalf of the Leadership Team,
